Questions & Answers about Treadmill

Question #1: treadmill with tv/dvd?
one day my mother passed by a gym and saw mini tv's/dvd on the treadmills and she asked me to get one for her. she has a treadmill so I just need to get the tv. Is it like that only by the gym? should I get a mini portable tv/dvd?

Answer: I'm not sure if you can get that stuff individually for the machines....The gym I go to in my area has TV/DVD players built onto them...I'm not sure where they get their supplies from but it definately speeds up the workout time and somethimes that is what you need....Try googling some places online that can maybe tell you what brand machine sells them like that or where you can order something from...good luck.

Question #2: Treadmill/Excercise Bike- Recommendations?
I've started walking to burn off 400 calories a day, because I'm hoping to have lost a stone (14 lbs) or two, by July. However, In the winter, it will be too dark after college, so I am planning on saving up for a treadmill/excercise bike.Would anyone have any preference over a treadmill or bike, and why? Also, which is the easiest to stay motivated with?If you reccommend a bike/treadmill, would you suggest any features? If I bought a treadmill, I would not need a calorie or distance counter, as I have that on my pedometer.Thank you very much in advance!

Answer: I’d avoid the treadmill as it is more stress on the knee’s and back. An exercise bike is much easier on the joints, or if you prefer the walking motion, get an elliptical. That will also give you motion for the upper body, and personally it’s more fun than either bike or treadmill.

Question #3: Treadmill vs. road training?
I have been running for a few months, and I use a treadmill for the huge majority of my work. There is an incline function that I make good use of, but I want to know the difference between this and road work. I live in a rural area, so the roads are not heavily traveled, but there is pretty much zero chance of getting a buddy to run with. I want to do a marathon in June, and I am not sure if the treadmill is adequate. (I've been an athlete for awhile, not starting completely soft) What are the ups and downs of treadmill vs. road running?

Answer: I think I take it easier on myself on the treadmill than when I do road work. ALSO-- running on a treadmill that has shock absorbers and running on the road are 2 different things! It is harder running on the road. I would rather do road work alone, just me and my mp3. :) Good Luck!

Question #6: Treadmill Weight Loss??! Help?
Has anyone lost weight on a treadmill? Im thinking about getting one for my house because walking around the place I live is really hot and there are to many wilds dogs. So a treadmill seems ideal for me since i dont leave the house much. How much should I use it? The treadmill im thinking about getting tells you how many calories you burn...should i eat a 250cal meal and walk off 300 calories? HELP!please? :]

Answer: Yeah, treadmills are great for cardio workouts!I wish I had one :-(Hm, count up your calories during the day, and try to burn off 500 more than you consumed. It sounds like a lot but I burned 200 calories in 12 minutes on a treadmill. Most treadmills have a calorie counter, so that's very convenient.
