Question: Treadmill Weight Loss??! Help?

Question Description:
Has anyone lost weight on a treadmill? Im thinking about getting one for my house because walking around the place I live is really hot and there are to many wilds dogs. So a treadmill seems ideal for me since i dont leave the house much. How much should I use it? The treadmill im thinking about getting tells you how many calories you burn...should i eat a 250cal meal and walk off 300 calories? HELP!please? :]

Answer#1: Working off as much or more than the calories you eat in a day is way, way too much! Not to mention, very hard on your body. Restrict your diet to about 1800 calories, give yourself one cheat day, and try and burn off between 300 - 400 on the treadmill 4 or 5 days a week (or more if your up for it). Trying to burn off 1800 calories a day on a treadmill is over kill, you'll never stick to it. Changing your life style is a gradual, rewarding experience, don't knock yourself out right off the bat, you'll lose interest if it's too hard. Personal experience. Treadmills are fabulous.

Answer#2: Yeah, treadmills are great for cardio workouts!I wish I had one :-(Hm, count up your calories during the day, and try to burn off 500 more than you consumed. It sounds like a lot but I burned 200 calories in 12 minutes on a treadmill. Most treadmills have a calorie counter, so that's very convenient.
