Question: When you burn calories, where do they go ?

Question Description:
I am doing a lot of exercise recently, and i got myslef one of those twister step machines. I have been burning off about 250 cals a day, but i was wondering , where do they go when i burn them off ?? As surely you dont loose 250 cals worth of sweat? So what happens when you burn them off ??

Answer#1: they go to calorie heaven! Just feel good when the sweat rolls off your body!

Answer#2: Energy cannot be destroyed but is form may be changed.Light a match, see the light and feel the heat. These are the results of the transformation of energy. Look at the match and you will see it has undergone a radical change.Work out in the gym and your body will heat up, that is it is giving out heat energy which means the body has to 'burn' calories to produce that heat. The chemical energy measured in calories is now heat energy dissipated from the body. The heart and lungs are working constantly, even when you sleep or are unconscious. This requires energy which is replaced by the food you eat. No food, no replacement of energy provided by the food and your body begins to 'burn' the fat and tissue and eventually you will die of starvation!

Answer#3: When exercising, your body temperature goes up because you're releasing enregy and that's what happens to your calories - they're transformed into energy. Energy used is energy burned.

Answer#4: Anything you injest contains calories. Calories are a measurement of energy units. You need energy to live. They are literally burnt up and any waste is, ahem, waste.

Answer#5: just imagine they are like tiny candles!as u burn them they turn into something much smallerwhich is then removed from the body.it is a similar principleand kinda romantici guess! lol !!or like petrol in a car. that too when it burns turns into water vapour and carbon dioxide which is much smaller.there are also small particles called hydrocarbons but that's another story!

Answer#6: calories are little chemical things.. that your body burns up for energy.. all of the cells in your body use that for energy

Answer#7: You are converting the "fat" to ATP via the Krebs cycle, which provides fuel for muscles to work. You express the conversion of burning ATP by exercise, and then heat.

Answer#8: burning calories means changing chemical energy into heat. when you exercise, your body warms up.

Answer#9: a calorie is (roughly speaking) a measure of heat. you generate heat, probably friction heat in the machine you're working on and in it's environment, plus the heat in your body which is dissapated by convection and evaporation of sweat. It takes quite a bit of energy to evaporate water, the same amount as it takes to boil it off.Or you can just hide them in your blouse.

Answer#10: Converted into heat and the process to use and build muscle fibre.

Answer#11: most calories burn are done opposing gravity.Imagine running up hill or holding a weight at arms length, you are burning calories every second just to stop gravity pulling you back down, or the weight down. The moment to stop push then you either stop still or the weight drops - gravity won!!

Answer#12: Processed into muscle and bone development.

Answer#13: They are suppose to turn into muscle.

Answer#14: Whilst exercising you are wearing away your fat, therefore you are reducing the amount on your body

Answer#15: to sweat and muscle

Answer#16: into heat, should be obvious as they 'burn' ...

Answer#17: They go away. Off to Never Never Land they go.
