Question: Whey protein consumption?

Question Description:
I started to use Whey protein to help gain muscle. It said to take a gram of the whey protein for every pound u weigh. for example u weigh 100 pounds so u take 100grams a day. I weigh 170, i put 170 grams in a glass to see how much it would be and it was a lot. It filled up one of my large glasses to the top. I highly doubt u would take it in one session. Does anyone use whey? and do u use that much or would i split up the 170 grams throughout the day? Oh and one more question, have u seen better results with whey protein. thanks and good night

Answer#1: Never heard of anything like, I would suggest 40-50 grams in one session. Your body can only intake that amount in one sitting. The best way to use whey protein is to have a shake (or what ever means you're using whey) before workout (45 to hour before) and after workout (immediately after). To gain muscle its more about calories then protein. Try to consume 2500-3000 a day divided in six meals a day. One final suggestion, buy a bottle of zinc. Zinc boost testosterone, take a pill after workout.I myself been taking whey protein for 3 years now. I went from 12" arm to 18". It is the the best protein supplement to gain muscles.

Answer#2: I don't know exactly how much protein (whether it's whey, soy or rice protein) that you personally need to consume in a day, but 170 grams of protein in one day for anyone is excessive. You probably don't need to consume more than about 70 in a day. Search the web for protein intake calculators to find out how much you need.

Answer#3: It all depends on the person myself whey protein does nothing for me i use a blended protein it digest much slower than whey and keeps your muscles fueled longer keeps you muscles in an anabolic state longer much better for you.
