Question: Whey Protein?

Question Description:
I asked a question about Losing the fat in my chest and gut, and someone said to drink whey protein after I worked out. Is it alright for a 15 year old to drink this stuff. I know what it its.

Answer#1: Hey Donovan...Whey protein is simply a byproduct of cheese / milk production. It isn't a steroid and other than containing a bit of cholesterol it's not going to have any serious impacts on your health (unless you down the stuff like crazy). But in all my time of reading health literature, I haven't heard of anyone having any health impact from drinking whey protein.Whey protein is simply protein. If you feel your diet is lacking in protein, then give it a shot. But chances are you are consuming enough protein as it is (especially if you eat meat).Just remember after a workout to consume some high glycemic carbohydrates and a bit of protein so that your body can begin to rebuild itself. Do this within one hour of your last rep to get the most benefits.Eating a meal is also good, but definitely a good protein bar and a sport drink should cover you.Good luck

Answer#2: you need protein if you are trying to lose weight and gain muscle. if you are fifteen you will be fine taking it. just cut down your calories and increase your protein and work out. you should not have a problem
