Question: Whey Protein.?

Question Description:
I am 21,female...and under-weight. I've joined gym to gain some muscle mass,as suggested by a doc.....Now, my trainer told me that there's no way i can gain weight easily for someone like me coz' after sometime...its all back to square one. He suggested to take some protein supplements esp. Whey Protein, if i want to maintain the muscles i m working on by next day...so i don't have to work from scratch again. But i've heard that these supplements have side effects...is it true? Is it worth it to take this expensive supplement? What things i should take into consideration regarding the supplement?Thank u!

Answer#1: I am having whey protien for past 7 months and havent seen any side effects in my Body. As far as i have read about whey and heard from people it is very safe to have it. Whey Protein is made from Milk. So only problem could come up if you are allergic to dairy products. Whey will make you gain some muscle mass. As it is protien and it helps in recovery. If you are not interested in having protien supplements then you can go the natural way and have high protien diet, but remember you would have to get arround 1Gram of protien for every pound of your Body weight (1 GM = 1 Pound) if you would like to build some serious muscle. But in your case even half should do the trick. Try to increase More Fish, Chicken, tuna in your diet. It should help and also you can try Soy it contains 52% protien..

Answer#2: The only side effects of whey protein come from a food intolerance or allergy to it.remember that its a highly concentrated food so do not overdo it.Some whey protein drinks have vitamins or other herbs or supplements added, these you need to be careful about because they can have side effects try looking for a pure whey powder or better yet ask a health proffesional to reccomend a brand. There is nothing magic in whey protein,it does have some benefits to the immune system, but their are other sources such as egg, soy, pea and rice proteins. You need to increase the value of the food you are eating and not neccessarily the volume.you should be careful to get enough fats in your diet through nuts, seeds, avocados, flax and fish oil.

Answer#3: have you trid to eat fatie food like cake, cookie, icecream or drink doc milk thin set down for about 45 min a day after you eat . see i hade the same perblem you are haveing and i was 105 p but now i ma 115

Answer#4: If you're not a vegitarian, then you can increase the amount of chicken and fish in your diet. This is a great way to add more protein. Also eat more eggs. I add boiled eggs to my salad and scrammbled eggs in the morning. But liquid protein is already broken down so you will get immediate results from it.
