Question: Exercise bike benefits?

Question Description:
Having young children means i cant get to the gym, im slowly creeping up to the 15 stone mark so i have started doing 45mins a day on the exercise bike, I have cut all the cr@p out of my diet, and now walk every rather than take the bus, what benefits should i expect to see if any?

Answer#1: If you cut the crap of your food, and work in the bike for at least 30 minutes a day, you will see benefits soon: weight will diminish, fitness will increase, stronger muscles, better heart beat, etc. So Congrats!Just be careful as to exercise properly on the bike. That is to warm up, coo down and in between work so that you can say a sentence or two without gasping for air, if you can only say a few words you are overdoing it. Walking at a good pace is also a great cardio exercise.Keep it up, you will begin to see results in little time, and that is only the beginning!Luck!

Answer#2: I also ride my stationery bike and I've noticed that I'm a lot fitter than when I first started out and my legs are getting toned. This is very good exercise and I do it in the fall/winter months when it's cold outside and dark but when spring/summer hits I'm out walking =) Good luck and stay with it, it's worth it I promise!

Answer#3: Benifits come with time, you will notice you are a lot fitter if you keep it up, its a good thing to mix exercise routines, I used to watch Tv when on my walker, found the time passes by very quickly and you don't realise that you are doing it in the end.Great benefits of exercise are:-Exercise protects against heart disease and stroke. Other benefits may be a reduced risk of the development of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and a reduced risk of cancer of the colon. It may also help in the control of blood pressure, improving circulation and may have a beneficial effect on blood fats. Exercise is also important for controlling body fat levels.Weight bearing exercise (eg walking) protects against developing osteoporosis (brittle-bones) later in life. Exercise can also have a very positive impact on other disorders such as menstrual problems, pre-menstrual problems, pre-menstrual syndrome and constipation. It is important also to remember that you're never too old to start exercising and experience the benefits, providing a doctor's advice is sought. Exercise can slow down the ageing process. Before embarking on any new exercise programme, it is important to seek the advice of a medical practitioner. This is particularly important for anyone who has a health problem such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease or a family history of high blood pressure or other heart condition.

Answer#4: just be careful with your lower back with the bike - wrong positioning can do long term damage walking is good but only if it is more of a powerwalk - brisk as you can and arms moving against the legscut the diet but dont go hungry just change the food you take and it should do the trickgood luck

Answer#5: bike riding works every little muscle in your body, it can only have benefits especially if you are on the bike 45min a day. Go for it!

Answer#6: MOST exercise is good for you.make sure you have a tv or music going to help with the boredom of pedalling and getting nowhere.YOU will find that your breathing will inprove and you will get a better 'feel good factor' about yourself.well done.

Answer#7: good for you! I hated it, it iwas boring and I had legs like popeye, so I gave it up and did power yoga insead, but if you need to tone your legs and bum, this is a good way to start
