Question: eliptical trainer question?

Question Description:
well, we got an eliptical about 3 weeks ago and Im a bit confused with its counter. first of all, i want to burn aobut 2 pounds a week. I know i have to burn 500 calories from eating and the other 500 from exercising. I walk to and from shcool, both 30 minutes so i basically walk an hour 5 days a week, but im not sure how many calories that burns (so many sites tell different calories)For the trainer, I can't do it non stop for too long since im just starting it, but for example i do it for 5 minutes and it burns 20 calories. is it normal? i read people losing about 300 calories in 30 minutes. it is because they go really fast? like, how can some do it without a break?if someone can tell me a plan, id appreciate it. I want to lose about 300 calories (aside from walking) on the trainer a day. How can i break it into different time of the days? like i do 10 minutes now, and 15 minutes in 2 hours (but of course it burns very little)thank you ^^

Answer#1: Use the plans that are programmed into the eliptical, if there isn't one in there, turn on some music, fast and as loud as you like it to keep you energized, or turn on the tv, that keeps your attention, I used to watch an hour of tv and I never wanted to leave the eliptical because then I couldn't watch my show. If there is no program on your eliptical, take the first 5 minutes to warm up, just going as fast or slow as you want, to relax and after that speed up your pace to about 70-80% Keep that pace for 5 minutes then increase the incline a bit for 5 minutesthen go back to your regular setting, switch up your pace or incline every 5 min or so. Most elipticals have some programs in therejust experiment
