Question: eliptical machine question?

Question Description:
Is doing 60 minutes straight on an eliptical miachine the same as doing 2 30 minute sessions? Would the calories lost be different?

Answer#1: pretty much - but your heart rate gets a break with the two 30 sessions

Answer#2: No, calories would be the same. That's what I do, 2 30 minute sessions, and I have had great results. You don't need to rack up your energy for 60 minutes straight.

Answer#3: There is a small difference. The 60 minute workout would lose more calories because you would sustain your top speed longer. If you do 30 minutes then stop, cool down and restart later you would have to get up to speed again.

Answer#4: no it should be the same and you should make sure and check your heart rate and keep varying the incline and resistence

Answer#5: Almost same stuff.Except.There is a margin. You have to get in 'the zone' where your heartbeat is optimal. If you do 60 minutes you do about 5 minutes to get there and 5 to get down. Equals 50 minutes hard labor.30 minutes you do the same except for 1 cool-down I would guess but still 5 minutes extra for getting your heartrate back up. Equals 45 minutes hard labor. These 5 minutes are not lost. You probably would take more rests if you did it all in a 60 minutes program. If you CAN do 60 minutes full force so to speak, 60 minutes are better for you as you maximize your effort. That's all. Until then two times 30 is better.
