Question: Eliptical vs. Treadmill!!!!?????? please read!?

Question Description:
My dad told me that the eliptical isnt as good as the treadmill because the eliptical builds up 2 much muscle and that u end up having really muscular legs- more than you should. is this true??? i am trying 2 lose weight and have been using the eliptical - will i get overly muscular???? is one better than the other?yes i am a woman :)

Answer#1: Sorry, but your dad doesnt know what he is talking about. If you have never done cardio before, then yes you will build muscle, no matter what exercises you are doing. However, you do not get big muscles from cardio machines. I personally like to switch off between the elliptical, treadmill, and stationary bike. This not only keeps my body guessing but also protects my joints, for the elliptical and bike are much safer on the legs.

Answer#2: Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. Do not touch articles of food or the cutlery in between. This will activate ur body to generate strong signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.Take light exercises and brisk walks (minimum 20 min duration) regularly preferably twice a day.U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. It is however to be noted that one cannot change the shape or size of different parts of the body. Ur dad knows best.

Answer#3: That is completely untrue. The only way to actually build muscle is to lift weights and if you are a woman it is even harder to pack on muscle. An Elliptical is a great piece of cardio equipment and is not a muscle builder in any way.
